Pawan Mishra

Pawan Mishra is an Indian-American author and storyteller writing in Hindi and English. He grew up in Aligarh, India — one of seven siblings, the son of a schoolteacher — where he discovered his love of storytelling, and studied Mathematics and Computing at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.

His debut novel, Coinman: An Untold Conspiracy, won the 2016 eLit Book Award for Literary Fiction and the Readers’ Favorite International Award, and was a finalist for the NIEA Award for Humor and IAN Book of the Year. Kirkus Reviews called it “an absurdist tale of office and personal politics set in a small town in northern India.”

Beyond the page, he produced and directed the animated series My Teacher Hilda (Amazon Prime Video) and the short film The Smart Phone Story, and founded the Lune Spark Center for Creativity, an arts-education center in North Carolina whose Young Writers’ Short Story Contest draws entries internationally. He spent two decades in technology and finance, including many years at Fidelity Investments, and is the founder and Chief Investment Officer of Myrtle Nexgen Capital, a private equity firm — a career bridging business and the arts.

He lives in North Carolina with his wife, Ritu, and their two daughters. He has written nearly every night for more than twenty years. New fiction and non-fiction — in both his languages — is forthcoming.
