For more than twenty years I have written nearly every night, in two languages, by one rule: only where there’s a gap. When a question won’t leave me alone and no good book answers it, I go down into the subject as deep as I can — then come back up and hand over what I found, in plain language, so you don’t have to spend the years I did. Everything here comes from that trade.
